I was born in Taiwan to a somewhat traditional family. This means the boy is favored as he is the one who will carry on the family name. I am very obviously a girl, something that isn’t really theirs in the future. In the mindset of many Asian cultures, the girls are to be married off and into the male’s family. Due to this mindset, I was simply miserable whenever I visited my grandparents’ on my dad’s side’s home. This was literally every weekend while I was living in Taiwan and having a bold independent child that spoke her mind was not what they had hoped for.

Luckily, my amazing mother knew she had to immigrate somewhere to get my brother and I out of their grasps. It was one of the key reasons we moved to Canada in 1997, when I was 8 years old. The other reasons being the limited opportunities Taiwan held for our future and it’s really constraining education system. Taiwan for all its “greatness” is still a small island with limited opportunities.

So we immigrated to Vancouver, Canada.

And I think it’s simply the best place on Earth. I still believe that despite having traveled and lived in 6 different countries across 3 continents. I know it’s partly because I truly found myself and happiness in Canada. Before moving I constantly felt cheerless and stifled, in Canada the sky was the limit. My parents made sure we knew that we should always chase our dreams, we didn’t have to become doctors, lawyers and whatnot but we had to give it our all for what we want.

After finishing high school in Canada, I took a year off to work and save up some money while I tried to figure what exactly is my dream? Eventually, I packed up my whole life and moved across the ocean to Milan, Italy. The next 3 years studying Fashion Marketing with an exchange semester in Paris, France. I landed the best internship anyone can hope for with Puma HQ in Germany. I feel completely in love with the country and I knew I wanted to stay.

3 years and many life changing travels, work and events later, I moved back to Germany! Life proceeded to throw me some curve balls that had me decided to leave yet again. Now 5 years later, I am back and living in the unknown waiting for my residence permit and work visa. There’s a lot more to the story than this but you will have to go thru my website and follow the journey to find out!

What I like and most likely you will see across the website:

● Traveling anywhere/everywhere
● Dogs, horses, dolphin and basically every cute living thing
● Food, music, travels, any occasion that brings people together
● Healthy debates about religion, culture, politics, life
● Food and cooking
● Ever changing hobby I am current into (check out Mulipotentialite to understand)

Why is this website called The daily dose of Sun when I don't post daily?

Yes, I realize my website has the word daily in it but I don’t post daily. I am hoping this becomes the site you look for motivation and gives incentive for people to get off their bottoms to do something anything they love. There are a lot of different elements on the site so you will have something to read, take a look at every day!

Why have I moved around so much? Am I running away from reality/life/responsibilities?

I love new adventures and never say no to it. There’s just so much I want to see and experience before I die, so it’s hard to find me staying put somewhere (fun fact: although I’ve held jobs and residence permits to one country or another since 2012, I haven’t lived in one place/location/apartment for even one year)!

How am I making money?

To be completely honest, I am literally not making any money at the moment. I am in the process of waiting for my work permit for Germany. This process has taken nearly 3 months during which I am not allowed to work. I still have yet received an answer! By the way, I should also mention, I haven’t had a stable income since I left my last job in June, 2016. I’ve been living on my savings, renting out my parents’ vacation home in Taiwan on Airbnb and doing some freelancing work.

My upcoming projects

● One of my favorite parts of traveling is the planning stages. I understand that might be shocking, since that’s the part most people hate. I am planning to offer my services to help you plan your trips! If you’d like this service before I’ve officially launched just get in contact with me.

● I taught English for a few months while I was living in Taiwan. I absolutely loved it! There are eCourse ideas running around in my head that I don’t have the time or team for yet.

● The best part of traveling is probably the people. I know the feeling when you have time off but no one else you know does or when you get nervous traveling alone to a new country. I plan to start bring people along for my travels as a sort of mini tour group.

● There’s many younger generation Taiwanese that are looking for opportunities to study or work aboard. I want to help with that. I am an admin to a Taiwanese in Europe group but I hope to do more in the future to help be the bridge between the gap.
